Nestled on the lush hillside of Ancak, Nusa Lembongan, Lokanusa Villa is a boutique retreat that redefines the tropical living experience through architecture that celebrates its natural context. The project sits on a gently sloping site overlooking the strait that separates Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, offering panoramic ocean views framed by native vegetation and the iconic Yellow Bridge connecting the two islands. Every architectural gesture is designed to immerse occupants in this serene landscape where the horizon, the sea, and the forest converge.
The master plan comprises a lobby, a café, one three-bedroom villa, and two two-bedroom villas, each with a private infinity pool oriented toward the sea. The villas are positioned to optimize views and privacy, with every bedroom enjoying direct sightlines to the sunrise over the strait. Expansive glass façades blur the boundaries between inside and outside, allowing natural light and ventilation to define the living experience while reinforcing a visual dialogue with nature.

A defining feature of Lokanusa Villa is its sensitivity to the existing topography and vegetation. The design preserves mature trees on site, allowing them to penetrate through decks and roofs as living architectural elements. This approach not only minimizes environmental disturbance but also enhances the poetic quality of the spaces creating moments where nature becomes an integral part of the built form. The material palette combines local stone, natural timber, and textured plaster, evoking warmth and authenticity while maintaining a refined tropical aesthetic.
Complementing the private accommodations is a communal outdoor deck designed as a multi-functional space for yoga, meditation, and social gatherings. Set along the same axis as the villas, the deck shares the same unobstructed views of the strait and morning light, reinforcing the villa’s atmosphere of calm and connection. The careful balance between openness and enclosure allows guests to experience both introspection and togetherness within the same natural setting.

Ultimately, Lokanusa Villa embodies a holistic architectural vision that harmonizes landscape, materiality, and human experience. Its form follows the contours of the land; its structure adapts to the presence of trees; and its spaces celebrate the rhythm of the day. Through thoughtful integration of context and craftsmanship, the project expresses a timeless dialogue between architecture and nature a quiet sanctuary that honors the essence of island living.
